"Yay!"

There is a big personality in this tiny body! This is me going crazy over my pretty beads from the parade. I don't know why Mom and Dad think this picture is so funny- Dad keeps bending over and grabbing his stomach because he is laughing so hard.
Dad taught me a new game this weekend- we clap and say "yay!".
At school my friend, Charlie, was showing me his "bye bye" wave while I showed him "yay!". It's really fun, I love to show Mom my new trick.

Parade

This weekend we went to the pirate parade with some new friends!
The Dads pushed the strollers while the Moms went on the hunt for funnel cakes. The best part of the whole day was catching the pretty beads that the pirates threw from their floats.
The beads were AWESOME. I even went cross-eyed staring at them. Don't worry, it's not like Mardi Gras, I didn't have to show any skin to get them. There were some interesting characters at the parade- the people in this town take their pirate traditions very seriously... At the end of the day I fell asleep, still gripping my cool beads.

Great Aunt Doe

My great aunt, Doe, came to visit me this week. We had such a good time! We played all day long. She's a good listener- she let me talk and talk and talk. I showed her my new toys and practiced using my new sippy cup (still not sure which end is the top yet).
She showed me her pretty jewelry and let me break her nice reading glasses. Her favorite thing to do is hold babies, and my favorite thing to do is be held and cuddled- so we got along very well!
I hope she comes back to see me again soon!
My Mom took a picture of me watching my Baby Einstein animal video- she thinks it is funny that I go into a trance for the movie.

Moxie Turns 6

My big lovable oaf, Moxie, turns 42 today (that's 6 in human years). He has either been in my face or by my side since the day I came home from the hospital with Mom and Dad. He doesn't understand the concept of personal space, he wants to be as close as possible to me or my parents at all times. His nickname should be "Velcro". We would like to think that there is some intelligence behind those gentle, droopy eyes of his, but again and again he has shown that he is perfectly content in his role as sweet and dumb. It also helps him to be the effortless comedian that we have come to love. This picture was taken the day after the big hail storm in Texas when I was a week old. Dad looked out the window and yelled "Buddy, you are in BIG trouble", but he couldn't stop laughing long enough to stay mad. Mox doesn't realize how big and clumsy he is, so Mom has to keep an eye on him to make sure he doesn't accidentally sit on top of me or knock me over with his wagging tail. Now that I am eating yummy solid food, he has taken a special interest in my hands and face. He is constantly sniffing for a hidden lump of sweet potatoes or pears. Here he is sitting in his favorite spot near me (Mom wanted me to note that this is not her hairy chest in the background). We love our loyal boy, and look forward to the next 6 years!

8 Months Old

Today is my 8th Month Birthday! Mom and Dad say that this is their new favorite age- I am very interactive and funny. See the blur in this picture? That's the new me- constant movement! I have perfected my pterodactyl shriek (best done in quiet public places), and have expanded my vocabulary to include "da-da-da" and "ga-ga-ga". Once I even repeated "da-da" when Mom was prompting me with "say MA-MA!". My movements are more assertive now- I can throw myself forward to grab toys. Sometimes I land on my face and cry, sometimes I just lay there and admire the view from a different perspective. I'm grabbing things with superhuman speed and strength, to the shock and amazement of my parents. For example: the time I pulled that huge glass of iced tea onto Mom's lap at the restaurant, and yesterday when I almost broke Dad's pinky finger trying to get my paci from him. They can't stop me now, I'm plotting my takeover of the house! Just wait until I get out of this brace...

Happy New Year!

My Dad doesn't know that we are putting this picture on the blog- don't tell him! He let me put a bow in his hair as a joke since we are virtual twins. Mom said this is payback for him wearing that hideous shirt. We had a very good New Year's Eve with my Aunt Joy. I didn't stay awake for the ball drop, but I got to celebrate for a few hours before falling asleep. I've been working on my New Year resolutions today- here are a few:

STOP BITING MOM.

Try to overcome my nose fetish.
And, learn new sounds like "da-da" and "ma-ma". Today we are relaxing at home, enjoying Dad's day off from work. We hope you and your family have a blessed 2009!
