Tell Me All About It

Last night I discovered my lips! I started telling Dad all about my "ba-ba" and "ma-ma". Mom likes the determined face I make when I'm "talking".

Happy Thanksgiving!

"We can only be said to be alive in those moments when our hearts are conscious of our treasures." ~Thornton Wilder. We had a great Turkey Day! Mom and Dad cooked a yummy lunch, including Dad's 5th Annual Apple Pie Event. The meal was a huge improvement over last year's Turkey Jerky. We got some news this week from my new orthopedic specialist- I have mild hip dysplasia. During my bath last week, Mom and Dad noticed that the fat rolls on my thighs are not symmetrical, so they took me in for a check. I have to wear this brace 24-7 for the next 3 months while my hip joints (hopefully) correct themselves. My hips have been normal until now- they have been checked 7 times by a total of 6 doctors from here to Texas (yes, we counted). Mom is a little disappointed that it didn't show up earlier, but we are happy to be treating it now and hope that I won't have to have surgery in the future. The good news is that I don't mind the brace one bit. I have more important things to worry about- like wearing a bow in my hair... or leaving it down.
Dad says the upside is that we can break out "The Bob" stroller early- it's his favorite piece of baby gear. It's roomy enough for my new frog-leg position, and the shocks are better than a bike.
I get to take off the brace at night for my bath in the big girl tub (I outgrew the kitchen sink about 2 months ago). I'm starting to understand how the water splashes when I kick my legs, and I love to wiggle my way around until I'm sideways- it's more fun than any of my toys. At the end of my first Thanksgiving day, I am overwhelmed with my many blessings. I wish the same happiness and sweet dreams for you and your family!

Sweet Girls

Mom and I were playing in the floor today when Maggie came over and snuggled up with me.Mox usually lays near me all day while Maggie stays on her bed near the front door "guarding" the house. So, when Maggie decides to grace me with her presence, it's a big deal. This was a particularly sweet moment between us girls.

Fall Foliage

Mom has enjoyed all of our friends' posts of pictures of the beautiful fall colors in their areas... so she decided to post some images of "autumn" here.Notice the subtle change in shade of green on the palm fronds as the weather cools into the 70s here. Sorry to our friend in Cincinnati who is anticipating an almanac-predicted "catastrophic" winter this year.
Today Moxie and I helped Mom plant some flowers in planters on the back deck. She says the back yard is going to be hopelessly ugly since it is a playground for our dogs. They like to chase the squirrels and lizards, not letting any bush or tree get in the way of their 80 pound bulky bodies. I was a good helper, chewing diligently on my toys the whole time.

Hanging Out

I'm getting the hang of this modeling business. Mom seems to always have the camera out, ready to catch my cuteness. She loves my squeezable cheeks! Lately I have been airing out my piggies, and discovering how yummy they taste! Dad was a little grossed out when he saw me eating my big toe...

Pirates

This weekend we had our first house guests! My Mom and Dad's friend from Charlotte came down for a boy's weekend with his son, Jake. We went on a fun pirate ship on Saturday. My favorite part was seeing the pretty water and some dolphins that swam with our boat. The only part I didn't like was the loud cannon. They fired it while I was taking my nap, and it was scary for a minute when I woke up and didn't know where I was. The boys went to a football game on Sunday, but Mom and I opted out of the male bonding. We went to the baby store to get more hair bows.

Mommy's Helper

Today I helped Mom hang up pictures... it was much more fun than it sounds! My favorite part was playing with the measuring tape.

6 Months Old

Mom said this is her favorite age so far! She thinks I am the sweetest, snuggliest, cuddliest baby ever made. In fact, she and Dad are having so much fun with me these days that they have been slackers about taking my picture! Mom promised to take more this week so we can put them on the blog. The only new picture we have is my new toy: the Jumper! We aren't sure who sent it because Babies R Us Registry doesn't send that info in their packaging. So- if you are reading this and you gave me the Jumper- Thank you, I love it!!
