Loveys

Ryan has a new favorite thing where he likes to bring his stuffed animals to school. They stay with him all day.
He definitely loves animals as much as I do.

Big Boy Bed

Look who moved up to a transitional big boy bed!
He's hoping to get a bunk bed next year, so he's testing out this awesome Avenger set up now. Dad gives him a superpower each night, just in case there are bad guys in his dreams. Some favorites are laser beams out of his eyes, power thrusters out of his hands like Iron Man, and the ability to breathe fire. Or Mom gives him Listerine so he can blow "fire" at bad guys.
He sleeps like Mom- curls into a comfy spot, and doesn't move much until morning.
He also likes to keep his lovey warm and cozy, too. Usually Green Frog, but sometimes he'll invite guest loveys to the new bed.
Like Finn The Awesomest Dog.
The only downside to a new, exciting bed change is that it can be hard to fall asleep. So, some nights are a big party in his room until 10 or 10:30. We usually find the evidence the next morning.
He's becoming a big boy now. Mom teared up a little when tucking him in one night, so he sat up, held her face and said:
"I know you're sad about missing Baby Ryan, and I'm sad too, because I love myself and Baby Ryan was really cute. But I'm gonna be a grown up now and it's gonna be great. And one day I'll get a baby in my belly and Kels will get a baby in her belly and we'll bring them to the house.".
He likes for Mom to snuggle with him after reading a book, then he says "I'm getting tired now for you to leave. I love you". He's a big kid.
He sets up his own armed guards outside the bedroom at night.
They keep us all safe.
And, for the record, I sleep like Dad.

Summer Camp

This has been the rainiest, stormiest, wettest summer since 2008. Luckily, I am in a summer day camp that has lots of fun activities indoors.
I could list all the fun field trips, art projects, and games we get to play... but my most favorite part of this summer has been the hair. Mom got soft curlers to put in my wet hair at bedtime. You sleep in them, and the next morning, gorgeous curls!
We also do wet braids at bedtime, but these curlers are the best!
Every week at camp there is a theme, and sometimes we do learning projects on topics like Greek mythology.
Mom was surprised to see that I picked Demeter for my project, who happens to be the patron goddess of Chi Omega Fraternity. I see a legacy in my future...
Dad likes when we learn about sports:

I like getting to hang out with friends in the morning,

 and parents at night.

Summer Days

We're coming up on the end of summer- time to squeeze in as much fun as possible in the shadiest, coolest places possible. Like, the zoo!
They added new rides, so it reminds Mom of her childhood favorite carnival-style fun stop, Lake Winnepesaukah.
Dad's favorite destination is a labrynth of piers along a giant mangrove, where we can practice riding our bikes.
One of these days Mom and Dad want to bring us out here on kayaks. Dad seems to attract every dolphin and manatee when he goes fishing in here.
We love fishing- especially when we run into friends at the bait shop!
This has been the best summer for friends, definitely one to remember.

Big Sister Time

Big sisters are the best!

Neighborhood Pets

We've adopted a couple of neighborhood animals as our "pets", including this beautiful boy.
After consulting with our fellow animal-loving cousin, Joli, we decided to name the peacock Leroy. Pronounced "Luh-ROY" for the flair he deserves.
He roosts in our neighbor's back yard, where she feeds him parrot food: seeds and peanuts. That explains the mystery of the peanut shells that end up in our yard- the squirrels must carry them through the trees.
Sometimes at dusk we take a walk to Leroy's house, hoping he will come out to see us.
He's very shy, but he will occasionally come out when we throw him some parrot food.
His tail is so pretty. And he knows it.
This is the closest he's ever come to us.
Ryan keeps hoping that one day he will let us pet him.
Our second "pet" is a black snake that likes to bask in our front bushes.
Dad hopes that he will eat the "pet" rats in our tool shed.
