We've adopted a couple of neighborhood animals as our "pets", including this beautiful boy.
After consulting with our fellow animal-loving cousin, Joli, we decided to name the peacock Leroy. Pronounced "Luh-ROY" for the flair he deserves.
He roosts in our neighbor's back yard, where she feeds him parrot food: seeds and peanuts. That explains the mystery of the peanut shells that end up in our yard- the squirrels must carry them through the trees.
Sometimes at dusk we take a walk to Leroy's house, hoping he will come out to see us.
He's very shy, but he will occasionally come out when we throw him some parrot food.
His tail is so pretty. And he knows it.
This is the closest he's ever come to us.
Ryan keeps hoping that one day he will let us pet him.
Our second "pet" is a black snake that likes to bask in our front bushes.
Dad hopes that he will eat the "pet" rats in our tool shed.
