Because I'm Excitement

Maybe it's a second born trait, or maybe it's a Ryan trait, but he is proving to be a natural joker. The stuff that he says keeps us laughing constantly. Like:
  • Ryan, why are you acting so crazy? "Because I'm excitement".
  • "We had boogers for lunch at school today. Not boogers from your nose. Hamboogers".
  • "My body feels like it widdy wants to hit Kels. So maybe I'm not going to go in that room with her".
He seems to have very healthy self esteem:
  • "I'm berry handsome, you know".
  • "I can do my stretches widdy widdy good".
We started swim lessons this year, and he had no trouble jumping right in with his fearless technique, called the "T-rex Arms". Coach Marissa can't even correct some of his moves because she is laughing so hard at his exuberance.
He's adopted a new smile for pictures now. We can't get him to stop. He loves having his picture taken,
especially when he can pose.
He loves going on special trips with Dad for boy time, like baseball games. This causes a slight panic in Mom, because everyone tells her that he will only want to hang out with Dad when he gets older. She's desperately trying new activities to keep him engaged, like cooking. He likes hanging out in the kitchen with her way more than I do. Probably because she bribes him with chocolate chips.
He's a little boy now. No more baby Ryan.

Snaggletooth

When is my other big tooth going to fall out?! It is driving us crazy- hanging on by a thread, sticking out horizontally across my lip as the new tooth grows in behind it. Every day Dad is like "PLEASE let me pull that snaggletooth". I am past ready for the tooth fairy to take it, so I tried to trick her.
I put a little white bean (with red mark for blood) in my mouse pocket and left this note under my pillow.
No luck. She didn't fall for it. And she didn't take my freaky tooth, either.

Annie and Rays

Girls Days are the best! Mom took me to my first real play in a real theater, the original Annie-with-red-hair. We went with my friend and her mom, super fancy.
The play was boring as heck, compared to the new hip hop Annie movie. But, the experience was fun. We started a wish list for more shows, including Lion King, Les Miserable, and Wicked.
The boys had their own day at the Rays stadium.
It's great that we're old enough to do fun things.
Now our parents are scrambling to squeeze in as many fun days with us as possible while we still like hanging out with them!

Weekends With Friends

We love Ryan's group of best friends from school. These are the sweetest, most loving, most wildly active boys you'll ever meet. It's refreshing to see other kids who like to karate chop each other and wrestle constantly. Put them in a bounce house together and it's like they've found their destiny.
Sisters count as friends, too. We're going through a phase where we pretty much fight constantly. So, when Mom and Dad see us being nice to each other, they go into a frenzy complimenting us and praising our kindness and cooperation. I read Ryan a book once and he didn't punch me the whole time. You would have thought we rescued a litter of kittens from a burning building. Mom praised us for this moment of peace for days.

Blue Jacket

When you find something as awesome as Blue Jacket, you never want to let it go. It keeps you cozy on tired rainy afternoons.
It hides your face when Mom is taking too many pictures.
And it keeps you looking stylish and hip.
When you love something as much as Blue Jacket, you never want to take it off. Not even on picture day when you are striking perfect cheer position.
One day we should do a post about superhero pajamas and the superhero powers they give us at night to fight bad dreams.

Daddy Daughter Dance

This year I took Dad to our first ever Girl Scout Daddy Daughter Dance.
We triple dated with my friends and their Dads at our favorite burger restaurant, then headed to the dance.
It was awesome to dress up and dance to Taylor Swift. But mostly we took lots of selfies to show Mom how much fun we were having. And document how we look exactly alike.
Mom and Ryan had their own date at the pizza place. They took some selfies.
Mostly it was Mom trying desperately to make just one of her children look like her instead of Dad.

Gasparilla Fun Run

This year we did something called a fun run. It's a great way to get kids excited about being physically active,

and meet Star Wars characters.
Ryan's age group went first. It was a study in competitive parenting, as the parents threw hips and elbows to get their 3 year olds into the best position to win.
Some of the parents even ran the race behind their kid, filming on their iphone. It was a very funny 25 yard spectacle.
The kids loved it-
because at the end they got to meet Darth Vader!
The parents loved being outside on a cool sunny morning.
And watching their shy girl muster up the courage to jump in the middle of the pack and run the best half lap of her life!
