Crawl Space

It's my own secret playroom! I like to pull all of the toys and books off this shelf and climb inside. This is me "reading" my book in there... flipping through the pages and jabbering as if I was really reading the words. Please note my nice diaper booty... Normally I wear shorts, but Mom and Dad let me be casual today because my shorts were dirty. One day I will probably be embarrassed by this blog post.

Young Author

I found Dad's pen and paper in the playroom and secretly began scribbling, until Mom caught me!

Hot Dinner

Dinner was hot tonight, so Mom was blowing all of my food bites before she gave them to me. Then I figured out how to do it myself!

Happy Father's Day!

What does every Dad dream about doing for Father's Day? Going to the mall, of course! We did our annual tie shopping, then he took me to play with the other kids and practice my walking.I think my Dad is the best- he tickles me and chases me and plays hide-and-seek... and he's great for big hugs. Mom said I should also mention that he is a dedicated diaper-changer and doesn't complain about baby chores. She tried to get a sweet picture of us together, but you can see that I have no time to stop for posed pictures! This is the big grinning face I make when he gets home from work at night. The dogs usually let me know when he pulls into the driveway, and I start chanting "da-da! da-da!" while standing at the baby gate. Then I squeal when I see him on the porch through the window. Mom got it all on video because she says it's the sweetest thing. I love him!

Emotions

Mom says when you look up "toddler" in the dictionary, it should say "volatile". It's tough to be me right now! I have strong opinions about things that I want, but I don't know how to articulate them (this picture shows how mad I get when the blue cup will not fit into the yellow cup). What I do know is how to scream, screech, and bang my head on the floor to get Mom's attention. My new facial expressions are a glimpse into my future as a dominant middle schooler. This is my determined leave-me-alone-I-am-busy-right-now look, and I've even perfected an irritated scoff for Dad when he tries to take me away from my toys for bedtime. I'm still a very sweet, loving kid, which is why my parents are amused at these new developments.Luckily, I am easily distracted, especially by my horse. Dad taught me how to push the button on his ear to make him say "neigh!" (it still freaks me out a little, kind of like a jack in the box, you know it's going to be scary, but you can't stop pushing the button). Then, there are my other 2 "horses" in the house... they always make me feel better, no matter what drama the day brings.

Big Girl

I'm a big girl, sitting in my big girl chair, watching my movie. Dad put my chair out and I climbed in all by myself. Then I got down, crawled over to pick up my favorite toy, and brought it back to my chair. I like being a big girl that can go almost anywhere she wants. The only problem is that I sometimes miscalculate my crawl spaces... and get stuck. You can ask Child Protective Services why my parents were laughing and taking pictures instead of helping me out of this pinch.

Daily Routines

Mom has become a slacker with my blog this month... her goal was to do 2 posts a week, but she thinks maybe once a week is more reasonable now that I am a busy toddler! She's having fun playing with me (and cleaning up in my constant wake of destruction), so she doesn't make enough time for pictures anymore. So, what have I been up to lately? Mainly keeping busy in the kitchen... I help Mom rearrange the mixing bowls and measuring cups on a daily basis. My specialty is pulling everything out, banging it around once or twice, then moving on to the tupperware cabinet. I love to help with the dishes- here I am reaching for the sharp knife... I also like to help with the laundry (note the shirt in the floor in the background). I pick a favorite piece out of the basket and drag it around the house with me, draping it around my neck to wear as a scarf/cape/boa. At the end of the day, I teach my parents about shapes and colors with my Elmo book. The funniest thing I do now is a compulsive cruise/walk around the coffee table- I circle around and around multiple times, grinning up at Mom and Dad with each turn. I've taken a few steps on my own, so it's just a matter of time before I'm off and running!

Old Friends

Last weekend we got to see some old friends from Texas! They were visiting the beach and we went over to swim with them for an afternoon. They were super fun. I hope I will be big like them one day!

Head Banger Bunny

This is my dancing Bunny. I love to go to my play room and push the button on his foot to make him sing and dance for me.Mom got pictures of me dancing, but felt that they didn't quite capture the moment...So she finally caught me on video!
