Great Aunt Doe

My great aunt, Doe, came to visit me this week. We had such a good time! We played all day long. She's a good listener- she let me talk and talk and talk. I showed her my new toys and practiced using my new sippy cup (still not sure which end is the top yet).
She showed me her pretty jewelry and let me break her nice reading glasses. Her favorite thing to do is hold babies, and my favorite thing to do is be held and cuddled- so we got along very well!
I hope she comes back to see me again soon!
My Mom took a picture of me watching my Baby Einstein animal video- she thinks it is funny that I go into a trance for the movie.

Moxie Turns 6

My big lovable oaf, Moxie, turns 42 today (that's 6 in human years). He has either been in my face or by my side since the day I came home from the hospital with Mom and Dad. He doesn't understand the concept of personal space, he wants to be as close as possible to me or my parents at all times. His nickname should be "Velcro". We would like to think that there is some intelligence behind those gentle, droopy eyes of his, but again and again he has shown that he is perfectly content in his role as sweet and dumb. It also helps him to be the effortless comedian that we have come to love. This picture was taken the day after the big hail storm in Texas when I was a week old. Dad looked out the window and yelled "Buddy, you are in BIG trouble", but he couldn't stop laughing long enough to stay mad. Mox doesn't realize how big and clumsy he is, so Mom has to keep an eye on him to make sure he doesn't accidentally sit on top of me or knock me over with his wagging tail. Now that I am eating yummy solid food, he has taken a special interest in my hands and face. He is constantly sniffing for a hidden lump of sweet potatoes or pears. Here he is sitting in his favorite spot near me (Mom wanted me to note that this is not her hairy chest in the background). We love our loyal boy, and look forward to the next 6 years!

8 Months Old

Today is my 8th Month Birthday! Mom and Dad say that this is their new favorite age- I am very interactive and funny. See the blur in this picture? That's the new me- constant movement! I have perfected my pterodactyl shriek (best done in quiet public places), and have expanded my vocabulary to include "da-da-da" and "ga-ga-ga". Once I even repeated "da-da" when Mom was prompting me with "say MA-MA!". My movements are more assertive now- I can throw myself forward to grab toys. Sometimes I land on my face and cry, sometimes I just lay there and admire the view from a different perspective. I'm grabbing things with superhuman speed and strength, to the shock and amazement of my parents. For example: the time I pulled that huge glass of iced tea onto Mom's lap at the restaurant, and yesterday when I almost broke Dad's pinky finger trying to get my paci from him. They can't stop me now, I'm plotting my takeover of the house! Just wait until I get out of this brace...

Happy New Year!

My Dad doesn't know that we are putting this picture on the blog- don't tell him! He let me put a bow in his hair as a joke since we are virtual twins. Mom said this is payback for him wearing that hideous shirt. We had a very good New Year's Eve with my Aunt Joy. I didn't stay awake for the ball drop, but I got to celebrate for a few hours before falling asleep. I've been working on my New Year resolutions today- here are a few:

STOP BITING MOM.

Try to overcome my nose fetish.
And, learn new sounds like "da-da" and "ma-ma". Today we are relaxing at home, enjoying Dad's day off from work. We hope you and your family have a blessed 2009!

Big Girl Chair

Check out my new high chair- I LOVE IT! Thank you Nana and Papa! It took a long time to find the best chair to fit with my brace, and this one is perfect.
My Aunt Joy came to visit today, so we are going to have the best New Year!

Christmas in Chattanooga

This year we had many things to celebrate: our family, our health, my 2 bottom teeth (click on the picture to get a good look at the little nubs peeking through), and... The arrival of Baby Keeley! She is my new baby cousin, and she arrived the day after Christmas. My Mom said that she was so happy to be there for the birth, and that Keeley's Mom was her hero for pushing out a GIANT 8 pound, 11 ounce baby (she thanked me for being a more manageable 7 and 1/2 pounds). My Mom's med school roommate delivered Keeley, which made it even more special! I am really excited to have another girl in the family! Jakob and Colin are great boy cousins, but I am looking forward to sharing baby dolls and hair bows instead of Darth Vader and Spider Man! We had a really fun weekend in Chattanooga, I got to see all of my family- here are a few pictures from the visit. This is my Mawmaw and Poppy:And this is my cousin Wags. He was funny like Moxie- very licky. My family was really nice, they all wanted to take my picture... I did my best to give them good material. They were constantly amazed at how much I resemble my Dad!
I got a lot of fun toys, but my favorites were the bows and paper from the gifts. Mom and Dad thought it was funny when I tried to eat Sparky, like he was just another toy! Maggie and Moxie were happy to see us when we got home (I didn't tell them about Wags and Sparky). And today we are getting ready for my Aunt Joy's visit. I love all of this holiday fun!
