Sugar and spice and everything nice, that's what this 5 year old is made of. Last year my two besties and I had a girls day for our 4th birthdays at a kid salon called Sweet and Sassy.
This year our Moms took it to the next level by booking a birthday party at the same place.
There is a staff of really fun high school girls who whisk us into the princess closet where we pick out dresses, then they use a thousand bobby pins and one can of hair spray per child to cement a style of our choice. The makeover is complete after a layer of glitter makeup. It's very Toddlers and Tiaras.
And totally amaze-balls. Mom said that is the new cool way to say "amazing". She's been spending too much time with 25 year old girls at work.
We learned dance routines: Party in the USA, did a fashion show and parade,
and loved every minute of our special day. These are all of my girl friends from VPK, and this is the last month we'll be together before splitting up for summer and Kindergarten. We definitely made the best of it.
The cupcake cake was perfect, even though the Moms worried the candles would ignite all the products in our hair! This was the moment when I decided that being 5 was going to be awesome.
And Ryan decided that birthday parties were his new favorite Saturday activity.
Mom and Dad did a good job of making me feel special on my actual birthday, on top of giving me the fun party. The day started with my favorite doughnut for breakfast.
Ryan likes this tradition, too!
Mag and Mox were too sleepy to appreciate the enormity of the occasion.
Then Mom picked me up early from school to meet Dad for lunch.
It was pretty cool to have Mom and Dad all to myself for lunch.
In the afternoon we got a big girl hair cut. I told Miss Jennifer how I've been working on my head stand in gymnastics and new knife chop move in karate.
Then it was phone calls from my cousins and Skype with Julie and Kalyn. I told them how I'm reading Dr. Seuss books and doing math now.
Finally, it was time to open gifts, including my first official Red Sox hat from Aunt Joy and Uncle Booty Monster! It was a perfect birthday, and I've already started planning for next year!
