September 2019: The Big Five game animals refer to the phrase coined by hunters for the five most difficult animals in Africa to hunt on foot.
They are definitely the most thrilling animals to see in real life.
Each night, armed guides from the preserve camp in the bush next to the rhinos, ready to defend them from poachers.
It was surprising how calm the animals are with the jeeps. The guides gave explicit instructions not to move, stand up, or make loud noises. As long as the animals see you as a giant single object, you are not perceived as a threat.
You could sit and watch this guy for hours.
After seeing these up close, you can understand the big cat obsession.
Lions and tigers get all the press, but neither are as beautiful as this leopard.
Did not care one bit about the humans watching his nap.
The ugliest, deadliest of the Big Five is the Cape Buffalo.
Ugly beast and his Red-billed Buffalo Weaver buddy.
Finally, the hunt for elephants.
This elephant family cleverly avoided us. But they were caught later taking a water break at one of the resort room pools!
