Sabi Sabi

September 2019: There are no words to express the magic of the Sabi Sabi Game Preserve in Kruger National Park.
The area is named after the Sabi River, which means "fear". The guide explained that the river received the name "Fear Fear" based on the river crocodiles and Cape buffalo.
The resort itself was tucked into a hillside, open to all the animals. At night guests are walked to their rooms with an armed guard due to wandering wildlife.
Humans are dropped right into the middle of the animals' natural habitat.
The humans are not allowed to walk down to the pond alone. The hippos are not friendly.
Even the giraffe knows not to drink from the pond.
You can see the mama hippo's tail end on the bottom right.
And here is the view from the giraffe's perspective.
Mama hippo does not like it when humans get too close.
It was the only time the safari guide got nervous. Apparently, hippos are a big dangerous deal.
She turned herself around and took her baby to the back of the pond.
Papa hippo just watched in stealth mode from afar.
The late afternoon safaris were the best.
Celebrating your birthday here is pretty special.
Celebrating your birthday at a bush dinner with a village choir is pretty spectacular.
